Apple devices and replying to secure email

We seem to have a problem with clients using iphone and ipad devices and replying to Secure email. The client receives the secure email fine but when they click to reply they are unable to do so. The reply text box appears with the "send reply" button but when the send button is pressed nothing happens. The button greys out for a second and then reappears, with nothing having been sent. (but no error message appears either.) Help appreciated.
