Hello everyone,

We are seem the message "browser out of date" to install Sharefile Sync on Win7 VDI.

Environment:
- Win7 x64 OS
- Google Chrome (last version as the default browser)
- Firefox updated to the last version
- Internet Explorer out of date because there is internal applications requirements

Tests performed:
1) Granted the last version of Firefox and Chrome is installed.

2) Used "Windows Default Programs" to force Google Chrome and Firefox as default browser and reconfigured Sharefile Sync, but the message "browser out of date" is exhibited after clicks on "logging with company credentials".
3) If perform any test with typing http URL on Run or Explorer... the correct browser is called by OS (default browser configured on step 2 - Firefox or Chrome)
4) Updated IE out of date to the latest version (IE11) --- worked.

I think that the issue is being caused because the Sharefile Sync is yet recognizing IE as default browser, anyone knows some trick to force Sharefile Sync doesn't use Internet Explorer as default browser and force it to use the default browser configured in Windows?

@Alessandro , ShareFile Desktop apps are built using .Net framework and use .Net's standard WebBrowser control to complete the webpopup based authentication. The standard WebBrowser control in .Net uses the latest version of IE installed on the windows system. Regardless of default browser it uses IE and there is no way of using any other browser unless we start using some third party controls which is not advisable. This would be the case with any app built on top of .Net framework.

If you can't upgrade IE in your VDI environment the other option would be to skip the webpop based authentication and configure SSO (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX208557).

Additionally, I also see that you are planning to use "ShareFile on-demand sync" for VDI which is very old solution. We recommend our customers to use "ShareFile Drive Mapper" (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX207791) for on-demand access to files in VDI environment.

You might also want to check our latest solution "Citrix Files for Windows" (https://community.sharefilesupport.com/citrixsharefile/topics/release-notes-citrix-files-for-windows...).
