I just thought I would share my thoughts on this new ShareFile Migration application for FileShares.
https://community.sharefilesupport.com/citrixsharefile/topics/release-notes-sharefile-migration-tool...

I have downloaded the tool and already used it. It is stable, really simple and very very easy to use.  Works great!

My initial jobs had an average of 2GB per hour in transfer rate - 0 errors.

Why wouldn't you just use sharefile sync? Am I missing the concept?

Because you then have to move your network share to the ShareFile local folder.
Using the new ShareFile tool you can point to the network share you want to migrate.

Hi All, the Sync tool is a two way transfer and great for keeping things up to date, especially for people who are in the field and require files offline or people who make changes often to their files. The ShareFile Migration Tool is designed to help you move large blocks of data from a local environment to ShareFile as a part of your onboarding process.

does it work with Restricted zones? I have tried installing and it doesn't bring up My files and folders or any folders for destination. It is just blank for "Choose Destination"

The tool is currently only for ShareFile SMB customers (Citrix Cloud, no restrictions) and does not support Enterprise Customers (On Premise storage zones, restricted zones, etc).

Hi Sophia,

The tools seems to work very well. This will be particularly use for some of our users who are offline at times when traveling. Just one question though does the tool warn you if 256 characters is exceeded when transferring files in either direction?

If the tool encounters a long path, that file/folder will be skipped and will be displayed in the UI after the transfer completes.

For your offline traveling users, I would highly recommend checking out Sync (https://www.sharefile.com/support#sup...) or Desktop App (http://support.citrix.com/article/CTX...) because they will be easier for users to maintain. The ShareFile migration tool only transfers when told to so a traveling user will need to run it all the time and it is only one way transfer so it's not the right tool for these users.
