Hi! Do you have a road map regarding Drive Mapper or Dekstop App for Mac that facilitates access to Network Shares/Connectors?

We would also be interested to know as we have both Windows and Mac users, using Sync is not the option we want to use so the Drive Mapper / Desktop App.

Citrix, do you have any update on this thread? How can we access Sharefile Connectors via a Sharefile Mac client? Also is the Sharefile Desktop for Windows (and Mac) client available for download? We cannot find it in the Apps page of our Sharefile account.

Hi All,

The Desktop App for Mac went live earlier this year with support for connectors: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX219917. If you cannot find it on your apps page under the Mac section, it would be best to reach out to support@sharefile.com to help investigate.

CItrix, Is there a more direct route to access shared files on a mac without using the destop application? This is available for PC but dont see anything online for mac users. This would be useful so that third party applications could access the files directly like having a mapped shared drive on a PC.

Hi Levi,
There is a new version of desktop app for Mac - ShareFile for Mac - that allows for accessing files in ShareFile directly from Finder window. Its currently in Beta and so comes with associated Beta disclaimers. Currently its supported only on macOS 10.12 and above, but we plan extend the support to macOS 10.11 before making it Generally Available.
Personal Folders, Shared Folders, Favorites and PCC connectors are supported too but Network shares connector would be added in one of a future Beta refresh.

If you would like to be an early adopter please feel free to download and evaluate it from https://citrix.sharefile.com/d-s28c2b81d5914cb7a
More information is here: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX226351

Hi
Are there any updates for releasing a new version including Network Shares?

Good news Øyvind Thoresen. We are working on an upgrade to the ShareFile for Mac Beta (Beta 3), and it will have network shares support too. Full roll out is expected to happen by next week and existing Beta 2 customers will automatically get a prompt to upgrade to the new version then. I will also share the direct download link once its done.

That is good to hear. Looking forward to test the new version. Do you also have updated information on supported web browsers? Today only MS Explorer works with online network shares. Are there a timeline for releasing the functionality for Firefox, Chrome or Safari for macOS users?

Øyvind Thoresen  they are already supported. If you are having issues, it may be that you need to disable CORS on those browsers.

ShareFile for Mac Beta 3 is now available and can be downloaded from here

Note that existing ShareFile for Mac Beta 2 users would get an in-app prompt for upgrade, and can simply follow that upgrade flow.

The Beta 3 has the following additions:

Support for Network Share Connectors
Support for configuring the size of the cache
Preview support for video files
Share or request files using the Mail app
Report a problem from the help menu
Performance optimizations for loading large folders
Reliability improvements for upload, download, and file badges
Fix for a system startup issue affecting OS X 10.13
Miscellaneous crash fixes and stability fixes
Supports extended to macOS 10.11 as well (previous Beta was 10.12+).

For more details on the overall support please refer to this article.

Just installed the beta, you don’t seem to be able to create folders using the drive mapper or have the ability to drag folders in? Am I missing something?

There is a limitation with allowing creating folders at the root of 'Shared Folder' and 'Favorites' with the current ShareFile for Mac Beta app. Elsewhere it should be possible as long as the user has the permission. Also drag and drop won't work for these two location.

The root 'Shared Folder' limitation will be removed in one of the upcoming Beta upgrade, wherein we would also provide ability to manage folder permissions from the app itself. For now, the workaround is to do this operation from Web site (Right click Shared Folder -> Open in ShareFile.com -> Create Folder).

Please let me know if this is not what you are seeing, and you are unable to 'create folder' in other subfolders.

Hi. I have some issues with both drive mapper and desktop app for Mac. When uploading files to network shares, the upload fails. The message simply states: "Upload Failed", but the file is still in the queue as In Progress with a triangular warning sign. This works fine with the online portal. Anything I have misunderstood or not doing correctly? Any help is appreciated.

Hi and thanks. I have tried to upload XLSM, JPG and LOG files, but the result is still the same. Please see the log from a period of two upload attempts. Do you have an email address where I could send you the complete logs?

Best Regards

Hi Øyvind Thoresen,

These logs appear to be from ShareFile Mac Sync, which does not have support for Network Share connectors.

It appears that you are either using ShareFile for Mac Beta app (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX226351 ) or ShareFile Desktop App for Mac app(https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX219917)

For these tools the logs are located at ~/Library/Logs/com.sharefile.desktop.widget, which can be sent to sfdesktopmac.feedback@citrix.com.

With ShareFile for Mac Beta app, the logs can also be submitted directly via the "Report a Problem" option in the Help menu.

Please let me know if you find any difficulty accessing them.

Cheers
Prabhat Tyagi
