OneDrive for Business vs ShareFile

This week I attended the a Microsoft event where migrating to and the future of OneDrive was discussed. Listening to sessions about OneDrive completed justified my love for ShareFile. From it being a pain to sync anything (, to having two completely different ways to access my files vs shared files, OneDrive is still so far behind ShareFile's development.

While ShareFile still has some growing to do (and bugs to squash), I am extremely confident in ShareFile's ability to stay ahead of the curve and provide the best file sharing there is.

Hi Mike,

Thanks for sharing this information. I have to admit we started to look more at what MS and One Drive for Business are doing currently, this was driven by our frustrations by some of the lingering but important bugs that need resolving within the ShareFile apps. It is taking to long to resolve these issues and I agree it is the only part which is letting ShareFile down in my opinion. Well that and the lack of full ShareFile integration into Microsoft office applications.

Kevin

What kind of Office integrations are you looking for? We are really content with Outlook Plug-in and the option to add the ShareFile as a place to save and open files.

Hi Marc,

Firstly apologises for calling you Mike in my initial response.

The add 'as a place' in the Desktop office apps is ok, given you have the Drive Mapper/Sync installed. However, Box use a full integration plugin to Office which does work very well with single click access and uploading files etc. This saves a lot of time navigating to the location of your files.
I appreciate we have our Outlook Plugin which is great. Box et al, (Google + Dropbox ) also have integration into the Outlook IOS mail app. ShareFile does not have this. This is mail app is being used more and more even MS are pushing it. So why do we only have the Desktop Outlook plugin and not the IOS one as well?

Lastly, Box have a plugin to Adobe, this also is very useful if working with pdf files a lot, which a lot of companies do now. It works very well for quickly uploading files in Box.

Sorry for keep using Box as an example, but they are managing to get some good integrations (and marketing out of it) into office and Adobe. That said ShareFile have a great range of apps and have a lot to offer, but in my opinion need to think about there current integration into MS and Adobe more + as you said fix those nasty outstanding bugs.

I hope this helps

Regards
Kevin

Hi Kevin and Marc,

I can comment on the Outlook mobile item. Outlook mobile, as we know it today, was created via an acquisition of Acompli (which was a mobile email client). Minus OneDrive for Business, the other file sharing services you see in Outlook were actually integrations that were there while the app was still Acompli. We have reached out to Microsoft about adding ShareFile 'as a place' within Outlook mobile but as of right now they are "still in the process of integrating the Acompli (now Outlook mobile) team into the Office 365 business line." With that said, we have an preliminary talks with Microsoft about how such an integration could work, though it will require some updates to the Outlook mobile app - similar to the integrations we have within Word, Excel and PowerPoint mobile apps. In the mean time, we could use your, and everyone who reads this thread, help by voting on the following Microsoft Outlook mobile app UserVoice story: https://outlook.uservoice.com/forums/293349-outlook-for-ios/suggestions/15313758-additional-cloud-st...
