Outlook Plug-in Not Accepting Settings set via Web Console

We have a business account with a number of users setup as employees. Since setting up ShareFile and deploying the ShareFile Outlook plug-in we have made a few changes to the way in which users are allowed to customise their attachment share settings and email encryption from within the plug-in. At first we locked these down, users were unable to change how long a file was available for download or how many downloads were allowed, along with how long an encrypted email would be available.

Now that we recognise that some users need to make things available for longer than we first thought I updated the settings to reflect this. Unfortunately though, some users are still having their options greyed out for the number of days/weeks a file or link are available.

I have had the users log out and back in again to their plug-in as well as restarting Outlook but with no luck. All users are using Outlook 2016 but are using different versions of the plug-in.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Gareth - I'm sorry to hear you're having issues with the plug-in. I've tried to repro your issue using the description you gave, but when I re-enable the settings in the ShareFile web app and restart Outlook, I'm able to modify the settings. I'm doing this with the latest version, 6.1. I know we've had a few problems with settings incorrectly disabled in the past, but nothing that logging out and back in wouldn't address, so I'm not sure exactly why you're seeing this. Can you please have your users update to 6.1, log out, and log in again and see if the problem persists? If it does, reply here and we can look at some next steps.

Thanks,
Doug

Hi Douglas,

Thanks for the update, I will try that now with a couple of the users and see how we go. I'll get back to you with an update as soon as I can.

Thanks,
Gareth

Douglas,

I have been able to update one of the users and the settings have changed to the correct settings set on the web interface.

I know plan to roll out the upgrade across all users.

Thanks for your help.

Regards,
Gareth
