Password Protection for Download Links (Without Requiring Account Login)

As a longtime Sharefile customer, I'll start by saying that I have seen people post this feature request for years now. Practically every file sharing service has this feature, so it isn't anything new or unusual. I feel as though Sharefile is ignoring this very valid feature request.

I request that Sharefile customers be able to send out a password-protected download link - WITHOUT going through the process of creating client account(s). For many situations, having to go through the process of collecting names/emails, creating accounts, distributing links, and supporting people who have trouble with their accounts, adds many extra steps that just isn't necessary for every circumstance.

For example, if I want to send 20 people a file that should have at least some kind of basic password protection, I have to create and distribute client account logins for those 20 people. It would be much easier and efficient to be able to create one password to access the contents of the link. I understand that a single password wouldn't fully secure the file being shared, but it is better than having a link that anyone can freely access.

Of course, there would still be situations where I would want to create a client account for more secure or continued access. And for those purposes the additional steps are fine. But it shouldn't be either a completely-wide-open download link, or force people to login to a service -- there needs to be a middle ground.
