Hi everyone,

I need to get an API key to use the API and am getting the "You need to the Account Policies admin message", when I click on the get API button .

Our IT support and project managers have been trying to contact Sharefile now for two days trying to find out how to the permission level /upgrade to our sharefile account works but not getting any sense from the support team replies.  "You will need need Account company account permissions in order to use api." We kinda got that , what we need to know is how to do this, its not clear how we upgrade the account or who we can talk to to do this..

We would would really appreciate if some one could let us know the upgrade path please , as we are chomping at the bit to get started with this stage of the project..

many thanks
Richard

Hey Richard,

Every ShareFile account has a master admin that has the required roles to perform this operation. This is usually the billing contact of the account, the person that initially set it up. You'll need to contact this person and ask them to either go to the documentation website and generate a key for your account, or to grant the "Account Policies" administrative role to another SharerFile user so they can generate the keys. The account admin can grant the role via the Web Application. Let me know if this clarifies the issue.

Thanks!

Thanks Eli thats really helpful. The person that set up the account has left so I wonder if that is the problem, that our current admin hasn't got those rights then...

Is there a account maintenance email address we can use to try and resolve this please..

Richard,

If the person that set up the account has left and the admin role has not been transferred to a new person than that is a bigger issue that should be resolved as soon as possible. There is a way to do it via the web application, but it would require the old admin logging in and transferring the role to a new person. If that's not possible because the old admin left, then you'd have to contact support and they can help get your new account admin setup. You'll need to get this part sorted out in order to request a key

I don't follow the question on the account maintenance email, let me know if I answered that above, otherwise could you clarify further?

Hi Richard,

There is a user permission called "Access Company Account Permissions" that can be enabled for employee users.  You must log in with a user account that has this permission enabled in order to get an API key.
