We are pleased to announce the release of the ShareFile Web Application v.16.21! The following features and improvements will be rolled out incrementally between now and January 12th.

Here are the notable changes:

Default Share Expiration Updated to 6 Months

Based on user feedback that the previous default expiration of 30 days was not long enough, we have increase the File Box expiration to 6 months. When using the Share option to send a file stored on your computer, the expiration setting will default to 6 months. Click here for more information on the File Box.

Persistent Recent Files

Improvements have been made to how Recent Files are presented on the Dashboard. Previously, Recent Files referenced the five most recent files you accessed using a specific browser on a specific computer. Now, you will see the most recently accessed file regardless of which computer or browser you are using your account from.

Update to Personal Settings for users that are not permitted to update their password

Users that do not have permission to update their own password are now shown an appropriate message when viewing the Personal Settings menu. Click here for more information on password management.

Update to Web Pop Login for Enterprise Users

During account activation for new Enterprise users, ShareFile will not provide unnecessary personal or password information to users that meet certain requirements. For example: accounts with Single Sign-on enabled will not display password information to employee users when they sign in for the first time.

Bug Fixes

The following problems have been fixed:
  • Dragging and dropping a folder into a Request link's upload field resulted in upload failure.
  • At the Configure Single Sign-On menu within the ShareFile web app, a new SP-Initiated SSO Certificate is no longer generated each time a user clicks the Save button. Certificate contents are only generated after a user change to the certificate level.

For those of us who prefer the original 30 day File Box expiration will there be an option to change the retention period?

As an Enterprise customer with on-prem storage only our storage requirements are sensitive to changes such as this. Increasing the retention 6-fold has the potential to increase the storage requirement by the same increment.

Excuse my ignorance, but where does one go to confirm the version number? Thanks

The version number for the webapp is not exposed anywhere. We can help you determine it if you give our support team a call but since everyone will be on 16.21 by the end of next week, unless something is wrong, I wouldn't recommend calling.

After getting no response from Jerred or any other Citrix Support staff on this question I opened a support case.

I am told that there is no way to change the retention period on the File Box. I am aware that this is how it has always been which is why some clients asked for a longer retention.

So with short-sighted vision Citrix chose to simply change the File Box retention to 6 months. They did not add flexibility to the product and make the File Box retention a variable that each client could set as they desire. This seems the logical direction that should have been taken.

There was no prior communication of this change. Therefore there was no opportunity to voice an opinion or develop a workaround.
