Release Notes, ShareFile Web Application v 17.38

We are pleased to announce the release of the ShareFile Web Application, v.17.38! The following features and improvements will be rolled out to all accounts by September 29th.

(Editor's note: The initial post erroneously labeled this release as 17.39, when it should be 17.38. Apologies for any confusion this may have caused.)

Custom Date Range for Folder Activity Log
At long last, the Custom option has returned to the Folder Activity log menu. Go take a trip down virtual memory lane.

Improvement to Resend Welcome Emails Menu
We've updated our Resend Welcome Emails page to be consistent with the Welcome Email step seen during user creation. Click "Advanced Options" if you'd like to get an activation link to send on your own.

Improvement to Re-authentication Settings
Under Admin Settings > Security > Login & Device Security Policy, admins can customize how long a user's authentication token sticks around. We've added a few options to better correlate with various system services.

Improvements to Overpaid Invoice Notifications
Incircumstances involving an overdue invoice notification, our billing system cansometimes take 2-3 days for the invoice to post as "paid" while thepayment confirmation makes its way through our billing system and sends the "thumbs-up" back to theShareFile web app. Consequently, some users will continue to see the overdue Invoice message while the payment is being processed. We've updated our invoice billing messaging to clarify the slight delay: 

"Please note: It may take 2-3days to fully process a new payment.  If you have paid in the last fewdays this message will be automatically removed as soon as the payment hascleared, and no future action is needed."

Improvements to Tenant Management (Trials vs Paid)

Tweaks to the Tenant Management dashboard make it easier for customers utilizing our Multi-Tenant feature to differentiate between trial and paid account types.

Misc. UI Improvements
  • Improvements to the text and options displayed when composing a new Share message
  • Update medical bundle file icon
  • Update to Workflow file's "empty state" to include appropriate icon
  • Update to Request List icon


Bug Fixes and other Improvements

The following items have been fixed or improved:
  • Getting Started Guide link within new trial "Welcome Emails" points to a "missing" page on
  • Issues scrolling when viewing a download link in Safari
  • Certain newly-created client users unable to change password
  • Issues previewing Word files for certain users with upload permissions
  • Unable to expand "message" box when composing a new Share message
  • Issue related to the creator can delete permission for certain client users
  • Recipients unable to download certain files included in an Encrypted Email
  • Issue adding new employee licenses that required a page refresh to continue
  • Unable to submit multiple product feedback forms
  • Unable to move subfolders to the Shared Folders directory under certain conditions
  • Web-based login prompt displays as blank for certain users
  • Certain folders erroneously displayed in Remote Upload Form creation menu
  • Issues loading the Tenant Management dashboard
  • "Unable to validate" error when navigating to the login page
  • Issue displaying File Versioning icon after a file name change
  • Failure to load file thumbnails in Microsoft Edge 15
  • Files accessed via Favorites shortcut not propagating to Recent Files pane properly
  • Unable to navigate away from Share links on certain mobile browsers

So, I was on the web portal today and tried sharing a public link (no email address or login required) link out. I have tested this feature several times from both the dashboard share a file get a link method and from a file in a folder—> share button, and have noticed 2 what seem to be bugs. Even though the add email address and name box were unchecked before sending the link my recipients are prompted to enter email first and last and company. 2nd problem is I selected get a link on 1 file inside of a folder but the recipients I sent it to see ALL files inside of that folder which poses a serious security risk. Can you confirm that this is in fact a bug?

Hey Cody,

Thanks for reaching out, and apologies for the delay! Those definitely sound like unexpected behaviors.

We did have a minor issue where messages were prompting for customer information / ignoring the setting chosen when creating the link, and that issue should be addressed in this week's release (rollout to customers planned for tomorrow).

The second issue is a bit concerning...I'm currently unable to replicate that issue on my own account. When you have a few minutes to spare, would you mind reaching out to our Support team so they can attempt to reproduce the issue or see it in action on your account so we can get a better idea of what may be going wrong?
