We are pleased to announce the release of ShareFile Web Application v18.40 which includes the following improvements and bug fixes. These changes will be available to all customers in the coming week.

Mandatory Two-Step Verification

Improvements have been made to two-step verification to give customers greater control and security by requiring users to use two-step verification in order to log in. ShareFile Administrators can set policies to require user enrollment for client users, employee users or both in Admin settings for Security under Login & Security Policy.
Require Two-Step Verification will require that the user group selected enroll and opt in for Two-Step Verification.

For new users, the activation process will require that the user enter a phone number that is enabled for text message (SMS) or voice.

For existing users, the user will be prompted to enter the phone number that is enabled for text message (SMS) or voice on the next login from the Web App, or client tools like Citrix Files for Windows or mobile app like Citrix Files for iOS.

Citrix Files Desktop App Betas

A setting has been added to determine whether users on an account can use Beta versions of Citrix Files. This adds control over access to the beta which was previously available to all users. This setting can be found in the Admin section under Advanced Preferences on the Enable ShareFile Tools page.

This setting will be defaulted to enabled for small medium business accounts and defaulted to disabled for customer on Enterprise accounts.

This release includes the following minor UI updates:
  • What's New links have been updated to reflect knowledge base article changes.
  • The "Size" column has been removed from the "Background Operations" page
  • When a user has forgotten their password, messaging throughout the password reset flow has been improved to not reveal whether the email entered is on the account. This will prevent bad actors from using this flow to determine who is on an account.

The following customer issues have been resolved:
  • When creating a user, the select all permissions option included 'Access other users' Custom Workflows' which caused errors because that permission required that the user be a part of the super user group which is not possible before the user is created. This option has now been removed from 'select all'.
  • Portuguese - Brasil language pack was not displaying correctly in Safari.
  • Files emailed to a folder was showing up as uploaded by anonymous user instead of logging the email address of the person sending the file.
  • Assigning folder permissions on subfolders when creating user generated an error.
  • In Podio, ShareFile links were not going to the file preview properly.
  • A customer was unable to unlink an user from the default storage quota policy.
  • When exporting an activity log to Excel, selecting a date outside of the date range will result in an incorrect report.
  • Users information was not displaying correct in the address book.
