We are pleased to announce the release of ShareFile Web Application v18.46 which includes the following changes. These changes will be available to all customers in the coming week.

New UI for Admins to Access User Content

We have updated the Manage Users page to include a link to 'Access User Content'. This unifies all of the user's content in one place. Previously, Admins had to navigate to different pages to see this information.

As a part of this change, admins will no longer see the option to search for Employees' File Boxes on the File Box page. Same with Sent Messages and Recycle Bin.

The following customer issues have been resolved:
  • Users with a one day file retention policy was getting the wrong error message when sharing files.
  • When creating a new user, adding that user to a distribution group automatically forwarded to the welcome email step.
  • When setting up SSO, the examples used the subdomain that the user was logged into instead of the primary subdomain for the account. This lead to incorrect configuration of SSO.
  • A few customers were not able to use the get a link share option for files on their Network Share.
  • Copying and moving files from a Personal Cloud Connector to a Citrix Managed Storage Zone (ShareFile) was failing due to an authentication error.
  • Restricted zone with proxy email service failed to deliver notifications

Who needs to know?
ShareFile Web Application updates are intended for all customers.

This is a very awkward execution of what was once a very easy process. We have an applet installed on our website which allows clients to send us files. Due to previous ShareFile limitations, those files go directly into the file boxes of our users. Because we work in a collaborative environment, we have a need for multiple people to access all file boxes. That is now impossible unless I give everyone admin permissions, which is a non-starter.

OLD WAY: Click on Folders->File Box->Search for user->DONE

NEW WAY: Click on People->Browse Employee->Select the employee from list->Click “View folders and activity logs”->Click “Access User’s Content”->Click on “File Box”->DONE

I recommend bringing back the search bar in the filebox window. Either that or remove the need for the filebox being tied to the web app and let those files be uploaded to a folder of our choosing. Either will work.

I would highly recommend investigating moving off file drop and consider using request links for users or making a new applet using our API. That feature has not been updated in a while... Let me see if I can find someone from our success or support team to help you through this.

In the meantime, sorry about the extra clicks.

That isn't a workable solution for us. Maybe I can walk someone through what we have. We have been a loyal customer since the beginning, and it would be a shame to move away from the platform because it keeps changing for the worse...

We do not have the experience or the budget to create an applet from the API

Is there any plan to restore this feature? We are still having a tremendous problem getting files due to the admin access that must be granted to move between file boxes.

We've given some staff who are not admins the authorization to see files in other user's file boxes. This Rube Goldburg re-work doesn't work for them. The flag on their user account that gives them authorization to see other user's file box is no longer functional. Let's rethink this.

Since the change took place, we suddenly seem to be having issues uploading files using Chrome. Files using the drag/drop interface never upload, then eventually give a "Item failed to upload" error. If you use Edge or the drive mapper app, it works fine. We're on Chrome 71.0.3578.80. Any fixes?
