Lenny,

We rely heavily on the ShareFile Desktop for Windows client.
But my Mac users are keenly aware that there is a feature discrepancy on their version of ShareFile Desktop--namely, that files need to be downloaded to the local machine before they can be edited. Thereafter these edited files need to be uploaded in order to overwrite earlier versions.
Edit/Save-in-place is a key feature for my users. I have to believe it is part of the roadmap for the ever-growing Mac universe. If it is not, I will be looking to move to another cloud file-sharing solution.

BTW, I would have liked to find (and comment on) an active thread concerning this feature discrepancy. However, no matter how I refine my search variables ("sharefile desktop"... "mac"... "edit"... "download", etc.), your forum software shows the same number of results (254 pages to be precise).

I would appreciate an update re: the ShareFile Desktop for Mac roadmap. Please refer this request as necessary.

BTW2, I have attempted on two recent occasions to pose these questions to your support staff. After two calls on-hold for more than 60 minutes, I requested a call-back... *twice*. I never received any follow-up. This seems highly irregular.

Thank you,
David Albert

Hi David,
Thanks for your feedback.
We have a Beta release of a new ShareFile Mac App (Citrix Files for Mac) that you may be interested in. You can download the Beta from dl.sharefile.com/cfmac/  and has Open and Edit Capabilities.  For more information on this application, please see: https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX226351

We are expecting this app to be released in the coming quarter, but in meantime, please try the Beta and if you have any feedback or issues, please let us know at cfmac.feedback@citrix.com.

Thanks,
Lenny

Hi Lenny can I use ShareFile Desktop for a hosted shared desktop environment running Windows Server 2016 where at any point there can be more than 1 Citrix session on the server VDA? I noticed the CTX article says "This app may only be installed as a per-user installation." If not what ShareFile client is normally used for a Citrix XenApp & XenDesktop environment?

Hi,
The ShareFile Desktop App does not support XenApp/XenDesktop. Instead, you can use ShareFile Drive Mapper for VDA deployments (https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX207791).  Also, we have a new application, Citrix Files for Windows, currently in Beta which also supports VDA if you'd like to try that as well and provide feedback. We are aiming to make this available in the coming quarter. https://support.citrix.com/article/CTX228273 - you can download the tool from https://dl.sharefile.com/cfwin

Hi Lenny, tried the gpo policy definition files for Citrix Files on Windows Server 2016 hosted shared desktop but noticed Citrix Files doesn't setup the user automatically. Is that possible?

Hi,
Which GPO definitions are you using? When you mean to setup the user automatically, are you referring to Single-Sign-on via SAML SSO or some other configuration?  If you're referring to SSO, you need to set the "Account" GPO under User Configuration -> Administrative Templates -> Citrix Files and set to your account subdomain. ex: Youraccount.sharefile.com

Thanks
Lenny

Thanks Lenny. I have the subdomain set in GPO and I was referring to VDA SSO. For SAML SSO I'll have to set it up. I also replied to Chris in other thread regarding this. For now I am trying to find a way to set a custom cache location for each user. I am using Citrix Profile Manager and Microsoft Folder Redirection. I want the custom location to be in Folder Redirection perhaps AppData\Roaming, am testing out a couple ways, but any ideas I'd appreciate it.
