Do you know what folder permissions you have on the folders you can't rename?

I have admin rights. I can make the change on the website, but not in the Desktop app.

Once a folder (or file) is selected, you should see a "Raname" option within More button at the bottom bar.
You can also directly rename by single clicking on the file/folder name. This would enable editing on the selected Item's name.
Please let us know if this does not help.

I have used both of the suggested ways to rename files with success, but when I hit enter, the renaming disappears and it reverts back to what it originally was.

That's strange. Can you confirm the OS version and the Desktop App version (it can be found at the top of the Help view)? I'll try to reproduce on the same environment as yours, and update.

Tested v1.18 on Win 7 OS (and some others), but we have not been able to reproduce it. As Gaurav also suggested can you submit the logs.

Can you please submit your logs so we can see the reasons for failure? To submit logs, go to the Help section and click on submit logs.
Thanks,
Gaurav
