Rightsignature and security (or lack of) of links to documents

I am new to ShareFile and the RightSignature integration. I am surprised that RightSignature links to the document are sent in open email. Essentially anybody with access to an email with a link to a RightSignature document has also access to that document. So say I send a tax return ( clearly a confidential document) to a client to be esigned. If the email he/she receives is compromised in any way in transit ( and as we all know email is not inherently secure) then the document sent for signature is also effectively exposed.

It is possible to set a passcode on the document but this only secures the email requesting a signature. The later notification emails do not require the passcode to be input before accessing the document.

With all the emphasis on the secure environment in which the documents are stored it is most surprising that a similar level of security is not applied to the email links ? In essence this renders RightSignature unusable for me . Am I missing something ?
