Sharefile Sync is using up all Bandwidth

We are an IT Provider and have a number of clients using Sharefile. For about 3 weeks now there have been complaints of Slowness in all internet connectivity when Sharefile is syncing a file. These clients have 100/100 dedicated Broadband lines but Sharefile seems to be using the whole Bandwidth when downloading files. Can anyone assist or know whats happening - it appears that its something on SF end as soon as we stop the sync internet browsing etc. goes back to normal

There is a way to restrict the number of concurrent transfers ShareFile Sync allows locally through the GPO settings. The setting is under "User Configuration\Administrative Templates\Enterprise Sync" and called "Maximum Concurrent Transfers Allowed". This will overwrite the maximum specified on the ShareFile account for that user.

The templates are installed with Windows Sync. They are installed in the directory "C:\Program Files\Citrix\ShareFile\Sync\Configuration\PolicyDefinitions". Just copy "ShareFileSync.admx" to "C:\WINDOWS\PolicyDefinitions" and "en-US\ShareFileSync.adml" to "C:\WINDOWS\PolicyDefinitions\en-us". Then launch the Group Policy editor.

have you had any other customers complain about this particular issue recently? These customers have been using SF for 2 years and this has only started happening 3 weeks ago?

Did these customers recently upgrade their version of ShareFile Sync? There have been performance enhancements made to Sync over the last year. It now responds quicker to any changes on the server side and handle tasks concurrently. If they were on an older version and recently upgraded to a newer version, it may explain the increase in bandwidth.

As for the settings, the lower the number selected, the less network bandwidth Sync will use. Though it will take longer to sync files. To start, try 2 or 3 and see if this decreases the bandwidth for the customer.

Just to Clarify, is this the amount of concurrent transfers per user?

Correct. It is the number of concurrent transfers for the local user. The GPO settings will need to be updated for each user of Sync.
