The ShareFile for Salesforce requires setting up Salesforce as a SAML Identity Provider. We are already using Okta as our identity provider. Can we utilize Okta for this product and still get the ShareFile to Salesforce integration working? Thanks in advance.

Another question regarding ShareFile for Salesforce is if we can embed it in Chatter topics/posts or if it can only be accessed via objects. Thanks!

Hi MC,
I see steps here: http://wiki.developerforce.com/page/Configuring-SAML-SSO-to-ShareFile to provide Salesforce as SSO to ShareFile and I believe that's what you are referring to; this configuration would be so that you can sign into ShareFile using your SalesForce credentials. Your Okta configuration would be with your company AD credentials. So, in answer to that, your Okta wouldn't be taking to the place of setting up SalesForce as an SSO to ShareFile because the Okta would only allow the passthrough of your AD credentials, what the article is referring to, is the option to passthrough your SalesForce credentials instead of using a ShareFile username and password and that is not a requirement of the integration either way.

In regards to your second question, there's not a way to embed it in Chatter posts that I have seen, only in objects.

Thanks!

Thanks Ashlee, that was very helpful.

You mentioned that SSO to ShareFile is not a requirement of the integration. If we don't configure the SSO, what do we expect regarding the behavior of the integration? Does that mean that everytime the user clicks on the ShareFile icon/link they need to enter their ShareFile credentials?

Thanks!

Hi MC,
So, yes, as of right now, without the SSO integration, users will have to enter their ShareFile credentials upon entering through SalesForce.
