The new PDF Viewer has removed the ability to print files directly from the viewer pane. What are users doing?

The new PDF Viewer that was loaded today at around noon no longer provides the ability for users to print the documents with a single click.  The PDF viewer now requires the user to download the file, open it in their local application and then perform a file print locally.

I agree, when you attempt to print directly from the browser it includes the viewers header and footer. Please either hide the viewers header and footer when printing from the browser or bring the print button back.

Hi everyone, the ability to print was a part of the previewer we were previously using. That previewer is dropping support for pdfs which is why we have moved to the new one. We are investigating adding the print option to the new viewer.

As mentioned in my previous post if we can just print form the browser and as a temp measure remove the header and footer that would be great. having to download and perform maintenance to clean up the mess is really useless task that users dont need to be bothered with

Thanks for the update Sophia.  The other issues with the new PDF viewer are that there is a limit to the file size that can be opened and overall the document load time for the new viewer went from just a few seconds to almost 30 seconds in some cases.  Additionally, the imbedded links in PDFs now open in the same tab causing much confusion in the user navigation model.

Good to know, this is a new renderer so we are starting small and hope to scale up soon. I believe we have a meeting later this week to review in detail.

Can you guys please also add the ability to see "Outline" like existing bookmarks from Adobe?  Every other app out there thats only a few bucks (Good Reader, Notes Plus) even free ones like Adobe Reader, FoxIt PDF all support standard PDF bookmarks and label them as Outline, then the bookmarks are ones that get add just in that app... As of right now an attorney could replace Good Reader and Dropbox sync all together if we can just get this ability to view existing PDF bookmarks for document sections, he loved the sharefile app and annotations, custom bookmarks, but without the outline function that shows existing embedded Adobe Bookmarks to jump to sections of large PDFs he has to first open in another program from sharefile to do his normal workflow... The idea was to replace dropbox and goodreader for the office with ShareFile, One App with Managed storage...Please make this a reality ;-)

Sophia, I'm assuming you are beta testing with clients the new Web application. The Citrix team has been pushing a lot of updates in regards to the web application but losing the ability to print is such an important function for documents. How do we get on a list or see what is going in the world of Sharefile?

Hi Jason, we are working on bringing Print back so that should be available again soon. It was an oversight on our part to have missed it in the first go around. I'm afraid it is very difficult for us to share our product roadmap in a detailed manner in a public space. (I just received a huge email about rules and regulations about it yesterday). We've changed some things around how we do big product releases and the messaging from marketing will be different starting in May or so.

I recently received a survey that asked how we would like the dashboard to look like and what features we would like. I would recommend that Citrix continue to use that method to get feedback before introducing major updates as it will hopefully reduce any oversights as you mentioned.
