Using python's Jupyter notebook, Sharefile creates a new checkpoint folder every time I save.

I use Python 3 and Python's Jupyter notebook, http://jupyter.org/, very regularly for my job. In the case that I am using the Jupyter notebook and save the notebook, it saves the progress in a folder titled ".ipynb_checkpoints".

If I am running the notebook in my local user folder I have no issues with the ".ipynb_checkpoints" folder being updated. However, if I am running the notebook in the ShareFile S: drive, when I save the notebook it creates a new ".ipynb_checkpoints" folder every time I save with a number attached at the end.

One of the folders on my S: drive has the following ".ipynb_checkpoints" folders in it now:
  • .ipynb_checkpoints
  • .ipynb_checkpoints2
  • .ipynb_checkpoints3
  • .ipynb_checkpoints4
  • .ipynb_checkpoints5

Could you look into have the folder be overwritten instead of creating additional folders with the number appended?

Hi Alex,

I think I know what the issue is though we have not validated Jupyter's Notebook behavior with Citrix Files file system. Its possible that we may have to do some special handling for these temporary checkpoint folders that the app creates. We will look into it.

Thanks for reporting.

Hi Prabhat,

Thanks for the reply.

Not for Jupyter specifically, but do you have an anticipated version release date that addresses what you think the issue is?

Regards,
Alex

Hey Alex,

Can you please reach out to us on cfwin.feedback@citrix.com. We would need some help on reproducing the issue with Jupyter.

Cheers
