What is new with ShareFile V3 API?

Our company recently got an email stating that our ShareFile account is using an older version and that after 10/31/19 this version will be discontinued, so we will need to upgrade to ShareFile V3 API.  We are wondering how this upgrade will affect our current use of ShareFile and what changes we should expect to see?

Hi Lindsey,

There is quite a bit new with the V3 API versus our legacy APIs. The reason you got the email is because one of the third party tools you are using on your account is still using a legacy version. We have detailed on our website migration strategies for third party tools to consume V3 here:
http://api.sharefile.com/rest/docs/resource.aspx?name=migration-guide

For more general V3 usage, I would start with our quick start guide:
http://api.sharefile.com/rest/index/start.aspx

Along with an increase in the API endpoints supported, one of the big changes with V3 is how authentication works. V3 uses OAuth 2 for authentication, which is described here:
http://api.sharefile.com/rest/oauth2.aspx

Please let us know if you have any targeted questions on using the V3 API, we're happy to help.

Thanks,
Dale Smith

Hi Lindsey,

Nothing changes with your actual content, only how tools interact with it behind the scenes.

Hi Dale,

What "third party tools" were you referring to in your original reply?
